My first Sarathi

(Are you alone?)

Suryachaur, as seen on the way, about 15 mins to desination. Along the way I was asked, "तपाई एक्लै हो? (Are you alone?)" three or four times. I wanted to answer - "Yes bruh, alone. Forever alone!" Haha Lots of things I used to do alone. Oh yes, dirty minded f*cker, that too. I used to go to cafes alone, treat myself often. Every time there was weekend of day off from work, nothing crossed my mind than planning a cycle ride alone. Since few years, I haven't been cycling that often - may be I'm old, may be I have lost my way through adult hood. Every time someone looked at my tattoo and saw the cycle icon in it, people would either think I am an extreme cyclist or love cycling very much. But then they would see that I ride bike to work and judge me. They would ask "If you have a cycle tattoo, why do you ride a motor bike?" Cycling is more than a means of transport for me. I support and love rights for women doesn't mean I have t

I got to read this early morning... As much as I would have problem in my commute if this rule is enforced, I equally welcome this if it helps in having better, non-polluted city. But, - By asking motorbikes to be removed, are you asking the motor bike riders to buy cars? The city thinks people are too rich enough to buy a car now? Or are you asking them to buy a cycle? Will the city plan a better cycle friendly road ahead? Or are you asking them to commute by public bus? How will the city make sure the public buses are travel friendly; on time, less crowded, safe? - Will the city plan how to ease the commute of motor bikers before enforcing this rule? Or will the city enforce the rule first and let the motor bikers figure out themselves - because we (the govt) f**king don't care how you travel. - Do you have any data to

Shape of you (Not really)

It's very hard for me to listen to the whole part of a song at first. I get bored too easily, though it might be a great song. With time, I might listen again and again, finally listening to the whole song. SHAPE OF YOU - oh yes it is popular. I listened to it very late. I no listens 'angreji songs' that much. And when I listened to it, well, let's say I wasn't listening. I was watching the video. I watched the whole part, just because I loved the music video. Here's a cover by Jatayu Band of Ed Sheeran's Shape of You . I was expecting it to be good, but not very good. But with the first 3 seconds of the beats of the Madal, I was dazzled. The sound was on point. Never thought a Madal could do that. Jatayu Band featuring Palsang Lama, this is a beautiful cover. With Madal, Tabla and Sarangi, sounds beautiful. Palsang has a great voice too, adding to the exotic tune of the instruments. Well, hello, I have a new favorite Nepali band in town after

Back to Kathmandu

It's 11:30 pm. I just landed in Pokhara International Airport. It’s been already 10 years since I left Nepal. Don’t ask me reasons. I wouldn’t bother to say. Last time, I left Nepal in a plane, from the Kathmandu International Airport. It was the only international one in Nepal. Returning back on an international flight to a different international airport is fascinating in itself. 10 years and I still remember the day I was leaving Kathmandu. The crowded ‘fish-market’-port, the mismanaged departments, the stinking toilets. When I look back, I wish the last day in Nepal had been a little beautiful – not full of bad memories. I remember the sh*t-port more than the faces of my family. The case is totally different now. Down from the plane and I don’t see that crowd anymore. Beautifully designed and well thought boards clearly point me to the right direction. A person at every door directed me, though I was uncomfortable to ask. I have been told of sad stories of Kathmandu

#OneDayInAClassRoom

On 23rd November, 20163 guests viz. Mr. Sher Bdr. Tamang (MP), Mr. Karmath Dangol (VP of Engineering at Cloudfactory) and Mr. Sujin Joshi (Freelance software developer) along with alum Eva Manandhar and Shina Shrestha visited Terse Secondary School, Sindhupalchok participating in the #OneDayInAClassRoom under Teach for Nepal 's initiative. The 3 guests took 3 of the classes, sharing their stories, inspiring kids. Here, I have put some of the thoughts from kids after the classes. I along with my co-fellows Astha and Aakriti took a written feedback from the students.
