Easy trick to download from Youtube - No plugin/extension
I download a lot from youtube (Thank you youtube for being there for us). There are lots and lots of extensions and plugins to help you with download. I used to use the IDM plugin (everyone loves IDM! ), but then suddenly IDM integration started having problems with both Firefox and Chrome. I needed something better. Then I found about this trick.
It is SIMPLE. Just add 'ss' before any youtube link and press 'Enter' or 'Go' or anything as such. This will lead you to a next website where you can download. The best part is it will offer you a list of quality options, thus giving you choice of quality and size. I usually pick webM 360p which is decent quality and not very large size.

Here's a problem that I faced in the beginning. When I press 'DOWNLOAD', the download began using the browser's default downloader. Yes, that's a problem, because it is slow. We all know that. I wanted it to start with IDM obviously.
The download would sometime start with both the browser's downloader and IDM. Then, I had a idea from my experience as a developer. :D
>Cancel the browser's download.
>'Right-click' on the download button

>Cancel the browser's download.
>'Right-click' on the download button
> Copy the link address
> Open IDM.
> Click 'Add url'
> Paste the url (CTRL + V)
> Click 'OK'
There you go.
TIP: Don't click 'Start download'. I don't know if I am right or I am just feeling it. I feel like when I start the download, the download takes all the bandwidth and I can't browse a single page. Of course this won't happen if you have a very awesome internet. So I don't start the download immediately, but the download is happening in the background. Then, when I feel like the download MIGHT have finished, I hit the 'Start download' button and voilĂ .
PS: I understand this is a much hassle compared to a 'one-click-download' extension. But that's a choice you have to make. Extensions/plugins tend to make your browsers slow. :)
