CYCLE TO WORK - JUNE 29
June 30, 2012
So, some of our
friends organised this Cycle to Work programme on june 29. The irony is i had
my project's mid-term viva on the next day. I had a keen interest to do cycling
after the fun i had in pokhara last year in nepal tour.
Travelling along
is never fun, wherever you travel. So i asked some of my friends if they would
go. Seems like my friends were too worried about the viva or didn't care to
what i said, actually. Whatever the reason, I had no worries, what I knew was I
was going cycling, this way or the other, even I have to be along. Now here is
the fun part. The only guy I expected wouldn't go was Kishor
R. Adhikari, based on his history and his backing off on last movie
plan. http://amwrit.blogspot.com/2012/06/apabad-nepali-movie-review-through-my.html ,
so I didn't care to ask too. But on the contrary, he was the one who was going
to accompany me. I was feeling good, I would have someone I know in the cycling
group besides Amir Joshi.
Now you might be
feeling I was being sexist, didn't ask my girl mates. You better not be. I did
ask them la. Not all of them, because I wouldn't care about them and neither
would they. Let us leave it here. 'कुरा
गर्यो , कुराकै बेजेत'
I dare not ask
everyone, because I have really good impressions among girls. [ sarcastically
:p] I asked Subhechha Bista, who I was quite frank with
than others. She was interested too. But later she backed off, I dont blame
her. Seems she was ditched by her friends as well. She couldn't go alone as
well, she would feel uncomfortable. I wish you had come Biste.
So, one day before
‘the day’, we went Kathmandu to hire cycles for everyone, who needed them.
Since I didn’t have one, I had to hire one too. Kishore had some quiz stuffs to
go, so he decided to come later. I somehow reached there, Chhetrapati, the
cycle shop. I was afraid if I would reach late and get no cycle or some old ‘थोत्रो’ cycle. But I reached on
time, none had actually come. The time I reached there, I chose one black cycle
lying there, double disc, a bell too. Gradually everyone came and at last each
of us took one cycle, leaving me, I was waiting for ‘that’ one. Later I found
out it wasn’t in condition. DAMN :@ then I had to make a choice fast, got a double
disc one however, wasn’t that bad too.
Now I had to
manage one for Kishor too. He was coming late, had to go Kirtipur, somehow far
than mine from Chhetrapati. I was in confusion what to do. Later we decided to
call him there and he would take it to Kirtipur. Now, the fun part is there
were no cycles left :D . I asked the owner if there was any left inside, he
brought a ‘लेडिज’ looking ,
small tyred, cycle with a carrier as well [how lucky ^^ ]. It was a geared mountain
bike however, Indian made.
So finally were
off to our home. I was the first to come, was the last to leave , uff.
When I reached
home, my parents’ expressions were like always, ‘I DON’T CARE’ expression. No
worries, I was happy, though tired. After taking dinner, I cycled around for
some time, it felt so nice in the cool breeze. I showered afterwards, felt so relaxed,
so active, not sleepy at all. I had then decided, I would get a cycle as well,
selling the ‘थोत्रो’ bike I had
:D
In the very
morning, June 29, 2012, I woke up at 4 30. I kept alarm of 4 and the stupid
alarm didn’t alarm as usual. Thank god, I woke up somehow, maybe it was the
excitement. I was thinking if I would reach Tinkune at 5 30, which was the
gathering place. But I reached; it took me about 35 minutes from Gongbu to
Tinkune. Now isn’t that awesome? I couldn’t believe it would take so less time.
After everyone had
gathered, we took off. Oh wait, had to say this, I want to remember this
incident later in my old age. Sujata Subedi and his friends came in a truck :D,
ha haa haa.. maybe they thought they would get late, so hitch hiked.
Changing gears,
though we didn’t know how to use it, one way of the other, slow or fast, we
reached Kathmandu University. I took like two hours and 45 minuters or
something like that. It was fun, tiresome, ass paining. These bikes should have
a better seat, stupid seats. Had not prepared anything for the viva, but I had
some new happiness in me, wasn’t worried about the viva. Our ‘khatra’ sir took
the viva, he knows everything you know. You know what I mean, don’t you :D .
Hmm, at around 4
pm we gathered again and took off back to Kathmandu. This would be easy, since
we wouldn’t have to ride uphill, but the risk is more in going downhill, with
those stupid buses and trippers who think their ‘बाउको’
road. Anyways, each of us reached safe. I remember this ‘khatra’ guy saying, ‘केहि साएक्लिंग गरेको
मजा नै आएन यार’
far
behind us, we never got to see him :D , but reached safe.
After a bit of
treat by Amir Joshi, the treat being Chicken Pizza for me and burger for
himself ( I treated him with 21 love too :D ], we went to the shop to return
back the cycle. It was 8 pm. Amir had his own cycle, so moved on; I had to walk
to home. Though if I would take a bus instead, but since I none arrived, I decided
walking home.
I was tired, took
my dinner to the room, though I would have it after a shower. My whole body was
aching, and my groin, shit, hurt as hell.
After shower, I was
thinking about the ride, the fun, thought it would have been much if I had my
gang too, and so decided to plan a cycling to some nice place with friends. But
I had this feeling later, they wouldn’t care again, so the plan would be in
dreams, just dreams, I guess.
I
had a wonderful experience, never thought if could make it, thinking about the
distance, the uphill roads, the risky highway. Nevertheless I made it, ‘WE’
made it. I sure am not going to forget this; memorable throughout.
“Along with my fun, I gave the environment
less smoke. Cheers!”
Sharing some more photos I took with my stupid phone’s camera. ( I
miss N73’s camera, it was really good)
