‘Maghesankranti’ (magh 1) according to Nepali Calendar, had just 2 hours of class, and after our lunch, brunch or whatever it is, we Hosteleers [KUBH] were back to the hostel.
And then someone made a thought of going for LOOT. Everyone said YES, but didn’t seem like anyone was serious at all.
A few minutes of CounterStrike ( DAMN! I GOT STABBED BY ‘TICHKULE’) , and guys started shouting out ‘Let’s go for LOOT’.
I got my clothes washed (few) and then we; Me,Bibas (my room partner), Rabin and Bikash (room partners), Tichkule aka Kishor ( Maaney ko roopa) and Binay Dahal ( a man with his own story :p ), started off.
Took the Panauti bus, got off at suryabinayak and then we marched onto Barahi Movies. Seemed like there was a HOUSE-FUL in there and it made us all afraid if we wouldn’t get a ticket and had to return ‘empty-eyed’. When we entered the gate, we saw NONE standing at the counter of LOOT but there was a queue of people in MASTI (a Nikhil ‘flying’ Upreti movie) and Bazaar (a Rajesh ‘THE’ Hamal movie). I was like “WTF”?? Though not a loooonnnnngggg queue, at least we weren’t expecting such scene. We were the only ones buying the LOOT movie ticket.
Got the ticket and we were in a queue, quite long, and the best part is that in such a long one, it seemed like we were the only ones there for LOOT.
When we got to the hall, we were even more shocked to see the number of people there. There were hardly 20 people. The seats were vacant. As the time passed by, few and few started adding. The movie started….
The movie started with a different style of showing up production house names. I loved that. And when it started giving names, there was a song ‘PAISA PAISA” running in the background, which was quite irritating, I loathe it personally. It would have been better without that song.
When the actual movie started, it showed up 5 guys talking about bank robbery on the top of a building, which seemed quite familiar to me. It wouldn’t be a big deal about the locations to the non-ktm people, but the Kathmandu inhabitants are sure to think and feel curios about all those locations and say “ Kahako ho tyo? Kata kata dekhe jasto lagyo bhanya! “
I am not going to tell everything about the story, you should go and watch yourself. That’s the fun right?
When the movie ended and lights were ON, we could see that actually there were more people than we had seen when we entered, which made me feel relieved.
After this experience, what I have come to realize is that, neither it is true that Nepal hasn’t got good actors nor bad filmmakers. The actual causes are the audience themselves. The Nepali Movies don’t get GOOD AUDIENCE. We have audience who love to see disgusting ‘exposures’ , ‘kiss scenes’ and ‘flying actions’. That’s all what sells in here. And that is why filmmakers and producers tend to make such kind of movies. If Nepali audience would sincerely watch good movies, the producers would be encouraged to make good movies again. After all MONEY is what matters to them.
[ PS: I have heard people been talking about the item song in the movie, many have been actually waiting just for it. But I don’t think that’s what you should see and praise. Try praising the FILM in total, and that would help Nepali Film Industry grow.
Don’t got for the movie if u want to spend on just the item song. You had better watch it on YouTube]

http://amwrit.blogspot.com/2012/06/apabad-nepali-movie-review-through-my.html
Good one, i do watch Nepali movies, the thing is vice versa. Audience dont go cos they want enjoy 3 hours worth of money n producer make those demanding movies cos dats wat audience likes. Hmmmmm i admire Nepali movies like PremPinda, Balidaan, SimaRekha, Kusume Rumal, Samjhana, DarpanChaya, Kanyadaan, Chino, BadalidoAakash and so on.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up.
KUSUME RUMAL IS MY FAB TOO :)
ReplyDeletethanks limbuni :)
Well friend, i am looking for the song " paisa paisa ". it would be appriciable if you could help me out !
ReplyDeleteBy the way LOOT is the film that earned more than 1 crore 30 lakh in its FIRST week ! That means audience obviously will fly for the film if its GOOD enough to lure... "udhreko choli" simply is a promo item song so have no comments on it, only thing is it could make the flow of audience increase in an unexpected way !!
" Baal hoina pasa dimag laga cause
Kathmandu sahara herda lagcha rahara..
dimag chalauna sakyo vane paisa harara...
yo kathmandu sahara !!!! "
hmm..let me try finding it out...isnt it in youtube?
ReplyDeletethanks for loving NepaliMovie :) we all love nepali movies if made in such a good way..
