I have started with the Teach for Nepal program as a Science teacher in Shree Terse HSS, Sindhupalchowk. This blog contains a log of moments that touched me in some way, a log of important moments and memories.

*le me pasting Practical marks on the wall...
(Dambar Sir looking at the marks)
Dambar Sir : "सरले त पुरै exhibition नै गर्नु भएछ कि क्या हो ?"
Me : "भैहाल्छ नि !" :)
-Fingers crossed
- The perks of having someone in the system who actually understands and cares.
- You don't need the whole system to change. One small change at a time is enough.

---------------------------------
*le me after showing the kids some project works done by other classes.
Me: Thank you!
- these little things. smile emoticon

September 11,2015
I was a temporary class teacher of Grade 6 Nepali for about a month till the new teacher came. I had no periods in the class, so I had been missing them. Hopefully, they missed me too and invited me for guff-gaff. :)
*le me having a chit-chat with Grade 6 Nepali
A student from Grade 10 comes at the door and asks to see the car that I was holding. (The car was a project work made by a student from Grade 8.) I haven't taught Grade 10 yet.
Surprised, she looks at the car.
Coming that from a student who I haven't taught meant a lot to me. :)

*le me sitting on a chair on the veranda.
Kids are playing in the ground of the school.
A kid from grade 5 of the school sees a bottle cap of a coke bottle.
He exclaims,"ई!
-Seems like he had seen his seniors making the balloon powered cars using the bottle caps.

Fingers uncrossed - the project exhibition did happen.
Rita Acharya is an average student from Grade 9. Rita was standing beside her project.
A student from Grade 10 is watching the projects. She says, "आहा! "
Rita is there listening to what she said. Later she tells me, "सर !
- Rita feels accomplished.

Kamal Giri is one of the low achieving students of class 8 Nepali. He failed last year. He passed this 1st term. He is excited and hopeful.
Prem Tamang
Prem Tamang had never passed the Science exam, as said by him. But he passed this year.He is happy.
I don't take credits for these (and other more) stories of success. I did nothing. They studied, they wrote in the exam, they passed, they succeeded. All I did was make them believe, THEY CAN PASS.

Debraj, Grade 8
Debraj is one of the low achieving students. He failed the first term too. He never did much in the unit tests as well.
Last week, I took unit test of pressure. He scored 6.5 out of 20. Percentage wise, that's not BIG, not even a passing grade. But he was happy because he had improved than before. And he knew it. He was one of those to be rewarded that day. I believe he see HOPE.
